CREDOAUTOPRIEKS Driving School

Year established 2012 2001

Training quality

Although Credo Autoprieks Driving School lists several branches on its website, it operates directly only in Riga. In Jelgava and Ventspils, the driving school is represented through franchises — representatives who are not directly connected with the driving school but partially use the school’s marketing. In contrast, Presto Driving School provides training of consistent quality almost throughout Latvia.

Credo offers training in LV and RU, while Presto offers LV, RU and EN.

Both driving schools are the only ones in Latvia that provide training in all categories, including professional driver training.

In distance learning, Credo Autoprieks offers Category A, B (LV, RU), BE, C and Code 95, while Presto offers the widest range of distance learning products in Latvia (AM, A, A1, A2, B (LV, RU, EN), BE, C, CE, Code 95, C95, D95).

Credo Driving School develops its own distance learning products and sells them to other driving schools through the website macam.lv, while Presto develops them but does not sell them to other driving schools, meaning they are exclusively available only here.

Theory

The public CSDD data for the last 6 months, combining in-person and distance learning results, shows that at Credo Autoprieks Driving School 73,70% of students passed the state theory examination on the first attempt. Presto Driving School achieved the best theory examination result in the country during this period — 76,49%.

Since students most often prefer to study theory remotely, we invite you to look at the CSDD 2025 chart showing the results of distance learning platforms across all offered categories. As already mentioned, Credo Autoprieks is the creator of the macam.lv distance learning platform, while Presto uses its own website, presto.lv, to provide distance learning. Credo platform examination results reach 64%, while Presto Driving School’s results curve is the highest on the chart — 78%.

Comparison of Credo Autoprieks Driving School distance learning results with Presto Driving School

Driving

In Category B, 30,74% of students at Credo Autoprieks Driving School passed the state driving examination on the first attempt, while the result for Presto Driving School is 29,85%.

In Categories AM, A1, A2 and AM, the result for Credo Autoprieks is 11,11%. Presto performs better in these categories — 29,63% of students passed the examination on the first attempt. The low number of Category A students also indicates that there is little demand for training in these categories at Credo Autoprieks Driving School.

In Categories BE, C, CE and D, 33,33% of students at Credo Autoprieks Driving School pass the state driving examination on the first attempt, while the result for Presto is 66,67%.

Conclusions

In summary, Presto Driving School offers a broader, more structured training system and a more effective training methodology than Credo Autoprieks. A significant advantage is its scale of operations, a broader range of distance learning products, availability of training languages, and exclusive programmes.

In theory training, Presto demonstrates stronger results both in overall statistics and specifically in distance learning, where the gap is significant. Driving results in Category B are similar at both driving schools, but in other categories (especially Category A and professional categories), Presto’s results are considerably higher.

Service

Let us look at the level of service included in the services offered by the driving schools.

Both Credo Autoprieks Driving School and Presto Driving School allow contracts to be concluded and payments to be made remotely on their websites.

Both Credo Autoprieks and Presto Driving School have a well-developed call centre, as well as a customer management system that makes it possible to serve students much better throughout the entire training process.

In theory training, Presto exclusively offers its clients the largest collection of thematic practice tasks in Latvia — 1600 questions, which is 2x more than in the state examination. This will be very useful for assessing your understanding of the Road Traffic Regulations and will prepare you well for both the driving school and CSDD theory examination. Credo also offers its own collection, but it is significantly smaller in scope and available to everyone.

The biggest difference lies in the organisation system for driving training. Credo Autoprieks Driving School has developed a very inconvenient and cumbersome system for students — the driving school issues codes to the student, which they present to the instructor in order to be admitted to a driving lesson or examination. Therefore, this process is not digital.

A Credo student is tied to one instructor and has to call personally to arrange training times. To change an instructor, it is necessary to contact customer service, so there are administrative barriers to changing instructors. We will explain this in more detail in the Costs section.

Presto, by contrast, has created a convenient digital driving organisation system that allows the student to organise their learning process themselves at a time convenient for them. The student chooses instructors independently and can change them freely without any explanations. Lessons can be booked and cancelled with 1 click. The meeting place for each instructor is indicated on the website. Such a system also promotes healthy competition among instructors as they compete for the student’s attention. You can read more about this at Presto Open Days.

At Presto Driving School, you may like the possibility of recommending the school to your friends and acquaintances — from Presto you can receive a reward of EUR 20 for each recommendation. Any energetic, sociable and communicative person can fully cover the cost of all their driving training purely through recommendations. Recommending a good school is easy!

Promotions

Credo Autoprieks Driving School runs promotions very frequently — almost every day — mostly offering the theory course for EUR 1. One can only conclude that this is how Credo Autoprieks values its training programmes, the results of which you could read about in the Training quality section.

What does this attitude of Autoprieks towards a free theory course mean? The driving school wants you not to pay attention to theory. Why? Because just 1 driving lesson costs as much as the full theory course at market price, while in the end you will need more of them. Most of the school’s profit comes from driving lessons.

As a socially responsible driving school, Presto Driving School provides support to Latvia’s large families and educational institutions. It does not run promotions at the expense of your costs and safety. On the contrary, it offers its students stable value — convincingly the best training content in Latvia and the system for mastering it.

Contract analysis

Before signing, Presto allows you to familiarise yourself with contracts for all categories, while on the Credo website only a sample Category B contract is available here. However, it must be noted that this sample differs significantly from what you can view shortly before concluding the contract. Such practice is unacceptable.

You can familiarise yourself with the Presto Driving School Category B contract before signing here, while to assess the Credo Driving School contract, formally fill in your details on their website credoautoprieks.lv in the selected category.

Introduction

A contract reflects the training and work organisation processes in a driving school. As we have pointed out many times, the choice of driving school would be different if consumers read contracts before making a decision. They usually contain terms that later turn out to be an unpleasant surprise. The balance of responsibility between the contracting parties is important. But if the contract sample and the contract shown to you at the last moment before signing differ, we would recommend being doubly cautious.

Credo has managed to describe its processes in 3.5 pages of contract, while the contract of Presto Driving School is somewhat longer. We have carried out an analysis of the Credo Autoprieks Driving School contract and mentioned the main differences compared with Presto at the end.

Driving deposit

Clause 2.1.3 of the Autoprieks contract stipulates that the deposit for driving training lessons is EUR 150.00, therefore the same as at Presto. Both driving schools share 2nd place for the lowest deposit among driving schools, but at Credo it must be paid 1 week earlier.

Huge penalty fee

Clause 3.2.6 of the Credo contract states that, in the event of late payment for services, the driving school is entitled to cancel all previously applied discounts and apply a penalty fee of 0.15% per day of the debt amount for each day of delay, but not more than 10% of the principal debt amount, as well as expel the Client from the training group without refunding the money paid.

Credo Autoprieks Driving School is the only school in Latvia that charges a penalty fee for late payment. In other Latvian driving schools, an unpaid service is simply discontinued, but at Credo Autoprieks you would still remain in debt.

Tied to 1 instructor

Credo Autoprieks Driving School does not have an electronic system for organising driving lessons. Contractually and organisationally, it promotes being tied to 1 instructor. This is indicated in the contract by clause 3.2.8, which instructs the student to choose a practical driving instructor from the list offered by the driving school (on the website), and clause 4.2.5, which states that the driving school will provide (one) driving training instructor.

Presto has had such a digital system since 2016, ensuring healthy competition among instructors and helping the student control their driving training costs.

Short theory learning period

Clause 2.1.2.1 of the Credo contract stipulates that access to the online theoretical training platform is provided for only 90 days. In turn, clause 4.2.6 states that if the client has not completed all theoretical training lessons (distance and in-person) within 3 months and has not informed the driving school about objective delaying circumstances, the contract may be terminated. Clause 2.1.2.2, in turn, indicates the possibility of extending the platform usage for an additional fee.

This may be the most unpleasant part of the Autoprieks contract. Knowing from driving school statistics that the average period for obtaining a driving licence is 6 months, this will obviously lead to additional costs for the majority of students. Driver training regulations allow theory to be learned within 1 year, and the Presto contract also ensures this without additional costs.

Risks

Clause 4.1.6 of the Credo Autoprieks Driving School contract encourages the student to monitor whether all driving training lessons are recorded in the CSDD system in a timely manner using their e-CSDD profile.

Some of Presto’s instructors also cooperate with Credo Autoprieks and report that the student pays a large part of the lesson fee to the instructor in cash. We emphasise that this is illegal and violates the training regulations just mentioned — Cabinet Regulation No. 358, which stipulates that all payments must be made at the driving school.

Accordingly, the driving school has already encountered complaints from students about lessons not being registered in the CSDD register and has imposed an additional burden on the student to monitor this personally.

It should be reminded that CSDD and the police conduct joint raids to catch dishonest instructors. The penalty is cancellation of the instructor’s licence and cancellation of your training. No matter how the instructor encourages you to take the risk together, understand that this offer is beneficial ONLY to him personally, while you risk losing everything. Such unethical behaviour by instructors indicates not only disrespect towards their students, but also irresponsibility and unprofessionalism.

We encourage you to report such cases to CSDD and the State Revenue Service in order to protect yourself and others. Your rights matter, and official payments are the best way to ensure training quality while keeping the instructor within the supervisory system.

Differences.

There are 2 unique, contract-based bonuses available only at Presto Driving School: Presto is responsible for cancellation of a lesson by the instructor in the amount of EUR 20, and, in line with Western practice, refunds money for a training stage in the event of a justified complaint. In our opinion, balanced responsibility of the parties is very important.

Costs

We invite you to look at the main cost items at both driving schools and calculate the approximate overall cost difference. First, we indicate Presto’s price, then, for comparison, the CredoAutoprieks price.

1. Contract registration fee (EUR 20) is EUR 9 higher than at Presto (EUR 29), depending on the selected category and training language. It is evident that this position is a popular tool for manipulating overall costs — it has no permanent value and is often changed as needed.

In several training categories there is a single price together with the theory course, but the contract registration fee for the Code 95 course is disclosed at the very last moment.

2. Theory course at Credo Autoprieks Driving School usually has a promotional price ranging from EUR 1 to 19 (full price — EUR 75). Presto distance learning costs EUR 25, while in-person training costs EUR 60. Since 90% of you choose distance learning, theory for this group will cost about EUR 20 more, while for the remaining 10% — EUR 50 more. You will receive a weaker, less interesting product with weaker examination results and a potential need for many repeated examination attempts.

3. First aid course (EUR 55) is EUR 5 more expensive — EUR 60.

4. Medical certificate (in Riga — EUR 38, in Ventspils — EUR 28.50), is EUR 5 higher in Riga and EUR 14.50 higher in Ventspils — EUR 43.

5. Road Traffic Regulations books (EUR 23) are EUR 2 more expensive — EUR 25. Both driving schools offer to send the books for an additional fee where necessary, or allow them to be collected at the office free of charge.

If you add up only the registration fee, first aid course, medical certificate and purchase of the books, the overpayment becomes such that the free theory course offered by Credo Autoprieks is no longer relevant.

6. Driving lessons make up 90% of the total costs at a driving school. At Credo, they are in the range of EUR 40 to 50, while at Presto — EUR 32 to 56.

Credo Autoprieks does not have an electronic system for organising driving lessons. As we already clearly indicated in the Contract analysis section, Credo Autoprieks prioritises tying the student to 1 instructor. This means only one thing — there is an arrangement between the driving school and the instructor regarding a client fee (the “sale” of the student to the instructor).

The instructor pays the driving school a certain amount for acquiring a client. In Latvia this is EUR 40 to 240, while in Riga it amounts to EUR 100 to 240. This means that, in order to recover this money, the instructor will artificially prolong the driving training in order to regain the money invested. You will have to book more lessons and therefore also pay more. In this way you will spend your funds without even realising that the costs have arisen because of the instructor’s and the driving school’s specific business model.

Moreover, being tied to one instructor also means waiting for that instructor’s availability — sometimes busy, sometimes ill. Therefore, the training will require more time, as well as more lessons, because progress will be slower.

Progress in driving training will also be affected by weaker theory training, so you will partly have to learn it during the lessons themselves. This, in turn, means that the training will require 2 to 3 additional lessons.

7. Taking theory examinations (EUR 15) — at Credo you pay EUR 1 less, i.e. EUR 14.

With a weaker training programme and without consultations (not included in the service), there is a high possibility that you will need considerably more time to be able to pass the driving school examination. Repeated attempts at the examination will also significantly increase your overall costs.

9. Taking the driving examination (EUR 45) — you pay EUR 5 less for the driving examination, i.e. EUR 40.

At least in Riga, both schools have specialised examiners, which promotes proper conduct of examinations.

Overall, considering that most service items are relatively balanced, the main difference is created by the need to extend the distance learning platform, the greater likelihood of many repeated examination attempts, and the significant differences in the organisation of driving training. In Category B, you will overpay by up to EUR 300 more than at Presto Driving School, and you will also need to devote at least 1 month more time. In the other training categories, you will spend proportionally less, as there are fewer theory and driving lessons.

Reviews

Credo Autoprieks Driving School offers a reviews section on its website where anyone can submit an entry without registering. Such reviews are not entirely reliable. Credo Autoprieks Driving School Facebook reviews can be viewed here, Instagram here, and Google reviews.

By contrast, reviews for Presto Driving School can be read on the website here, and they can be left only after authorisation. There are the highest number of genuine and verifiable reviews in Latvia. They can be sorted by instructors, lecturers and driving school. Presto reviews can also be read on Instagram, Facebook and Google.

Final conclusions

The choice between Credo Autoprieks and Presto is largely a choice between two different training and business models. Credo offers a more traditional, less digitalised approach with a strong emphasis on price promotions, whereas Presto focuses on a systematic, technology-based and controllable training process.

Presto’s advantage is most evident in scale, structure and control — both in theory (higher results, broader content, stronger distance learning) and in the organisation of driving training (flexible choice of instructors, digital system, lower risk of overpaying or getting “stuck” in the process). This directly affects both the time required to obtain a driving licence and the overall costs.

The main risks in Credo’s model are related to limited flexibility (being tied to an instructor, manual organisation), shorter deadlines and potentially additional long-term costs — especially if the training is prolonged or repeated attempts are required.

If the priority is the lowest “entry price” and a simple choice without deeper analysis, Credo may seem attractive. If the final result, predictable costs, speed and control over the process are important, Presto is the rationally stronger choice.

The main point is this: in this comparison, the decisive factor is not the price of the theory course, but how efficiently the driving school can take you to obtaining a driving licence with minimal time, stress and overall cost.
