Theory
Combined data from remote and in-person theory training shows that 66.93% of Vikingi Driving School students passed the state theory exam on the first attempt. The result for Presto Driving School is 76.36%, which is significantly higher than both Vikingi’s result and the national average. Moreover, Presto’s theory performance is the best in the country. The industry average performance is 67.94%.
Students most often choose to study theory remotely, so let us look at remote learning results separately. Vikingi offers its video training on the macam.lv platform, where the result is 64%. Presto has its own platform, and its curve on the chart is the highest, reaching 78%.

Driving
According to CSDD data, 45.03% of Vikingi Driving School students passed the category B state driving exam on the first attempt. The result for Presto Driving School is 30.24%. However, it is worth noting that Vikingi operates in Daugavpils and Rēzekne, where traffic is not as intensive as in Riga, so naturally passing the exam in these cities is easier. The national average result is 36.15%.
In the AM, A1, A2 and AM category driving exams, the result of Vikingi Driving School is 60.66%. At Presto Driving School, 36.36% of students passed the exam on the first attempt. The national average performance is 51.23%. For these categories as well, Presto’s results include Riga data. Traffic in Riga is denser and more complex than in Daugavpils and Rēzekne, where Vikingi students take their exams, so passing the exam there requires greater effort.
In the BE, C, CE and D categories, the percentage of Vikingi Driving School students who pass the driving exam on the first attempt is 63.08%. At Presto Driving School the percentage is 70.59%. Presto’s performance in these categories is higher and is notable because most Presto students take these exams in Riga. The national average result for these categories is 59.28%.
Conclusions
The theory results of Vikingi Driving School are low, which clearly indicates that theory is unlikely to be mastered at a high level in this school. When looking at driving statistics, it should also be understood that Presto’s results include Riga exam statistics, while Vikingi students take their exams only in Daugavpils and Rēzekne, where driving conditions are easier.
Let us look at the service level, meaning the services included in the price.
Vikingi Driving School does not offer any services remotely; its system is not digitalized – everything must be handled in person, which is inconvenient and time-consuming. Presto Driving School offers a fully digitalized service system – registration, contract signing and payments can all be done remotely, saving both time and effort.
A well-developed call center and client management system allow Presto Driving School to serve students much better throughout the entire training process. In addition, Presto Driving School has created a convenient digital system for organizing driving lessons, allowing students to manage their training process independently.
Vikingi Driving School most often offers discounts on theory training in its promotions. Moreover, since Vikingi’s theory results are low, it can be assumed that the promotional price reflects the real value of theory training at this school.
Presto Driving School, as a socially responsible driving school, supports large families and educational institutions in Latvia. It does not run promotions at the expense of your costs or safety; instead, it offers stable value – the most comprehensive training content in Latvia and an effective system for learning it.
The contract of Vikingi Driving School is not available on the website and can only be reviewed in person, which makes it more difficult and time-consuming to make a well-informed choice of driving school.
The Vikingi contract requires that within one month you must pay for document preparation, theory training and all driving lessons. However, this raises a question – how can you know how many driving lessons will be required when you have just started training? It is impossible. This creates uncertainty and a significant financial burden. In contrast, the initial payment for driving lessons at Presto is EUR 150, and later you can pay for each additional lesson separately. This approach is much more convenient and understandable.
Clause 12 of the contract states that the 10 mandatory driving lessons must be completed before finishing the theory course, which is approximately within one and a half months. For some people such a timeframe may seem normal, but for many it can create additional pressure and complicate both the learning process and financial planning.
Clause No. 13 states that the driving school theory exam consists of 60 questions and 2 mistakes are allowed. This means it is twice as long and more difficult not only than the Presto Driving School exam but also the CSDD exam itself. Moreover, despite the complicated school theory exam, the state exam results remain low.
Clause 14 of the Vikingi Driving School contract states that if the school driving exam is failed, the student must complete 3 additional lessons before applying for a retake. In addition, before the exam you must present a certificate issued by the instructor. This creates a significant burden – you will have to wait until the certificate is issued and also ensure it is not lost. Furthermore, such an instructor-issued certificate indicates that the school ties the student to one instructor, which again complicates the learning process, as discussed further in the Costs section.
The Presto Driving School contract is freely available on the school’s website and can be reviewed at any time. Presto offers a shorter theory exam and provides students with proper theory training for passing the exam. The Presto contract does not set a deadline for completing the mandatory 10 driving lessons (only the legal limit of 3 years) and does not require students to take additional lessons.
The registration fee at Vikingi Driving School is EUR 30. This is EUR 10 more than Presto and the general market price.
If you miss one of the theory modules, you will have to pay EUR 15 to repeat it. At Presto the fee would be only EUR 10.
The most significant cost differences appear in driving training. Vikingi Driving School does not have an electronic driving lesson system, meaning that the student is effectively sold to an instructor. This means the instructor pays the driving school a certain fee for acquiring a client. This amount could be around EUR 60. To recover this money, the instructor may artificially prolong training and extend driving lessons so that you need more sessions. This can be estimated at at least EUR 100 in additional costs.
Furthermore, being tied to one instructor means waiting for that instructor’s availability – illness, busy schedule, car repairs, etc. As a result, the training process will take longer simply due to human factors.
In addition, since the theory training results at the school are weak, you may end up learning theory during driving lessons. This means you will need more lessons, and therefore more time and money. This can be estimated at around EUR 60.
Presto Driving School has an electronic driving system for choosing instructors, which promotes healthy competition. Only competition among instructors for students’ attention and the ability to “vote with your money” for service quality can ensure fair training conditions and help you avoid excessive expenses.
Based on official state exam statistics, differences in training quality, driving lesson statistics and limited practice opportunities, it can be concluded that you will pay at least EUR 160 more for category B training at Vikingi Driving School than at Presto Driving School.
The Vikingi Driving School website does not have a section where reviews can be viewed, so the experiences of other people must be searched elsewhere. This significantly complicates evaluating the quality of the driving school.
On the Presto Driving School website, however, reviews can be submitted by actual clients after logging in with their social media accounts. This ensures authenticity and credibility, which can be verified by contacting the people who wrote the reviews on social networks.
