In this article we have carried out an in-depth analysis of the data and facts of Autoprofs Driving School and Presto Driving School, highlighting the most important information that is decisive for making a choice. The driving school comparison was updated 2026-03-03 16:12:25.
Autoprofs Driving School is a regional driving school in the Jēkabpils area with training branches in Aizkraukle, Madona, Koknese, Viesīte and Zasa. In contrast, Presto Driving School operates throughout Latvia.
Below we explain both driving schools in more detail. Read and explore!
Autoprofs Driving School offers training only in 2 languages – LV and RUS, while Presto Driving School offers training in 3 languages: LV, RUS, ENG.
Theory
Combined data from in-person and remote training shows that Autoprofs’ result in the theory exam is 48,70%. Presto Driving School’s result is 76,49%, which is the best result in Latvia. The industry average statistical indicator is 67,89%.
It is clear that remote learning is a more attractive option than in-person training, therefore we suggest looking at CSDD statistics that show the results of remote learning platforms. Autoprofs Driving School offers its video training on the macam.lv platform. Presto Driving School has its own platform. According to the statistics, the result of Autoprofs is low.

It is obvious that Autoprofs performs poorly in theory training not only compared with Presto but also compared with the overall average result. In addition, the Autoprofs school theory exam consists of 60 questions (2 times more than in Presto Driving School and the CSDD exam). It might seem that a more difficult school exam would make the state exam easier, but this is not the case.
To test your knowledge and prepare for the exam, Autoprofs will suggest using the CSDD website. Presto Driving School, on the other hand, offers 1,550 questions on its own website for knowledge training, which is 2 times more than CSDD. The training platform is available exclusively to Presto students.
Statistics show that theory learning at Autoprofs is difficult. Although the school offers the possibility to attend theory topics again for free in other training groups, the results are still low. At Autoprofs, lecturers teach their individual programs, which are relatively weak, whereas at Presto Driving School the learning content is continuously developed by the entire team of lecturers.
Driving
Both Autoprofs and Presto offer driving training with both types of gearboxes. Autoprofs Driving School lacks information about its instructors, while on the Presto website you can examine in detail where instructors teach, what their specialties are and what reviews they have within the driving school.
It is well known that Riga has the most intensive traffic in Latvia compared with other cities, therefore results between regional driving schools and those operating in Riga differ significantly. Clearly, passing an exam is much easier in smaller cities.
At Autoprofs Driving School, driving exams are taken only in Jēkabpils, therefore the school’s results are relatively high – 47,22% of students pass the category B driving exam on the first attempt, while at Presto Driving School 29,85% students pass it on the first attempt. The average indicator for the category B exam in Latvia is 37,24%. However, we would like to emphasize that Presto students’ results in Jēkabpils are no worse than those of Autoprofs.
In category A, Autoprofs shows 75,00%, while Presto shows 29,63% students passing on the first attempt. The average result in this field is 49,19%. We repeat – Autoprofs does not operate in Riga and its students take the exam in Jēkabpils, where traffic is not as challenging as in the capital. In addition, Presto has very strong category A instructors and the results of Presto students in Jēkabpils are excellent.
In BE, C, CE and D categories, the percentage of Autoprofs Driving School students who pass the driving exam on the first attempt is 71,43%. The percentage for Presto Driving School students is 66,67%. Students of Presto Driving School in these categories mostly take the exam in Riga, while Presto does not offer these categories in Jēkabpils except for BE. The national average result in these categories is 60,39%. Once again the difference between the calm traffic of Jēkabpils and the complex traffic of Riga becomes evident. For these categories, Autoprofs may be a reasonable option.
Conclusions.
Based on theory exam data, it is clear that learning theory at Autoprofs Driving School is not the most successful idea, because their results are significantly lower than both Presto Driving School and the industry average. Theory is the foundation of all traffic rule knowledge, and you may not want to learn it during driving lessons – which is expensive, as it will require significantly more driving lessons.
When looking at driving statistics, it must be understood that Presto results include Riga exam statistics as well. Autoprofs data reflects only Jēkabpils. Moreover, the results of Presto students in Jēkabpils are equally strong.
In this section we look at the level of services included in the driving school offers.
Autoprofs Driving School does not have a digitalized system for handling documents and services. Naturally, this will require much more of your time. Presto Driving School, on the other hand, offers fully digitalized service. On the Presto website you can conveniently and quickly handle services (contracts, payments, training overview and progress, etc.) remotely. A modern call center and client management system allow students to be served much more efficiently throughout the entire training period.
Autoprofs Driving School also does not have a digital driving lesson management system like Presto, which allows free instructor changes. Free choice, independent time planning, instructors competing for students who vote with their money for the most suitable specialist cannot be compared with the individual training system used at Autoprofs. One of the main principles when learning in a driving school – never leave your driving training entirely at the discretion of one instructor.
More about the impact of these two different systems on your costs is discussed in the Costs section.
Autoprofs Driving School does not provide information about promotions on its website, therefore there is no available information about such offers. Presto, as a socially responsible driving school, does not run promotions at the expense of your safety or costs. Instead, it offers stable value – the strongest training content in Latvia and an effective system for learning it. It also supports large families and educational institutions in Latvia.
The contract of Presto Driving School is significantly more detailed than the Autoprofs contract. However, overall it can be observed that all contract terms comply with Cabinet Regulation No. 358, which regulates training, and there are no unreasonable penalties.
The only remark is that in the Autoprofs Driving School contract the phrase about providing the student with a licensed instructor appears three times – in singular form. It may sound good, right? We would say not quite. This refers to being tied to one instructor, which may lead to the consequences described in the Service and Costs sections.
It is important that Autoprofs does not allow reviewing the contract remotely – it can only be read on-site. Meanwhile, Presto Driving School contracts are freely available on the website and can be reviewed in advance.
Please note that the Autoprofs website does not display prices. You must spend additional effort to obtain basic information. You will learn the prices only by calling, writing or receiving the contract.
Autoprofs Driving School states that the price for one driving lesson (45 minutes) is EUR 15. However, in practice in Latvia one lesson usually lasts 2 academic hours, including at Autoprofs. This unclear wording creates the impression of a lower price, but the real lesson price is EUR 30 for a manual transmission and EUR 36 for an automatic transmission. Such wording is beneficial because it hides the real costs.
The document preparation fee at Autoprofs is EUR 10 lower than at Presto – only EUR 10. Considering that this is also the client service fee for a 3-year period and that the service level at Presto is incomparably higher, this difference is essentially insignificant.
Autoprofs does not charge for taking the theory exam, including retakes. At Presto a retake costs EUR 15. Considering the statistical results, this may be a small motivation to prepare better for the exam, although Presto’s theory exam is 2 times easier.
The largest cost difference will appear in driving training. First, in driving schools with weak theory training, driving lessons are prioritized in many ways. If theory is learned during driving lessons, you should expect a few additional lessons. This can be estimated at EUR 60–100.
Second, Autoprofs does not have an electronic driving lesson system, and students are tied to one instructor. In driving school practice this means that the instructor pays the school a fixed amount for acquiring a student. In Latvia this amount ranges from EUR 40 to EUR 150, while in Jēkabpils it could be EUR 60–100. The student does not realize that their training at Autoprofs begins with a negative balance – money that the instructor will attempt to recover by artificially prolonging driving training.
Being tied to one instructor also means waiting for that instructor’s availability (busy schedule, illness, etc.), which leads to longer training and more driving lessons. This will also increase your costs.
Considering official state exam statistics, differences in training quality, driving lesson statistics in Jēkabpils, the different driving lesson organization system at Autoprofs and limited practice opportunities, you may overpay up to EUR 200 more for category B training compared with Presto Driving School.
In AM, A1, A2 and A categories there are proportionally fewer theory and driving lessons, therefore the overpayment would also be smaller. Additionally, in the AM category Presto has the fastest theory training program in Latvia – only one lesson.
The Autoprofs Driving School website does not have a “Reviews” section, therefore finding other people’s experiences requires searching elsewhere. This significantly complicates evaluating the quality of the driving school.
On the Presto Driving School website, reviews can be submitted only after authorization. It has the largest number of real and verifiable reviews in Latvia. They can be sorted by instructors, lecturers and the driving school. These reviews will help you choose the right driving school and training specialists. In addition, you can learn a lot about Presto instructors in Jēkabpils from social networks. Join them and get to know your instructors before starting your training!
