The system of legal acts regulating road traffic encompasses legislation related to road traffic, which imposes an obligation not only on vehicle drivers but also on any more vulnerable road user to know the provisions set out in these legal acts and to comply with the requirements specified therein when participating in road traffic.
The main legal acts studied by students in a driving school include the Road Traffic Law, the Latvian Administrative Liability Law, the Civil Law, the Criminal Law, the Motor Third Party Liability Insurance Law (OCTA), the Road Traffic Regulations, the basic principles of the demerit points system, the rules on securing loads in road transport, and regulations and rules governing drivers’ working and rest time requirements, among others.
